Former President Asif Ali Zardari reached Vehari district on a two-day visit on Monday and said the rival Imran Khan's PTI won the Rajanpur election owing to inflation rather than the party's popularity.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarian (PPP) President Asif Ali Zardari initially reached Multan in a private aeroplane and then left for Vehari on a helicopter.
Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and former Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mehmood welcomed Asif Ali Zardari at Multan airport while Shahryar Khan Khakwani welcomed him at his residence where he will stay for tonight.
Talking to the media in Vehari, Zardari answered different questions and said that the PPP is running alongside PDM but is not a part of it.
Zardari said Imran Khan wanted to sell all the institutions of the country but his coalition government has saved Pakistan by coming to power.
To a query about holding talks with the PTI chairman, Zardari said negotiations could be held with political parties and personalities but Imran Khan is not a politician so there is no chance to talk to him.
Zardari said Imran Khan had to learn many things as he has not passed a tough time like a politician yet.
He said during his party--the PPP's previous government, there was no inflation and they increased the salaries of government employees, pensioners and judges.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari will address the convention at the Vahari Nawab Palace tomorrow (Tuesday).
