Islamabad police arrest 'dozens' of PTI supporters including women

Dozens of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf workers and supporters including women were arrested by the Islamabad police during a crackdown outside the F-9 Park, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.
A large number of workers and supporters of PTI gathered at the park to express solidarity with the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Sources said over two dozen workers have been arrested under the violation of Section 144 so far and they were shifted to various police stations.
The capital police claimed to have averted chaos and violence and blocked roads to maintain law and order in Islamabad.
The lawmen and PTI activists have continued to clash outside F-9 Park. A scuffle between the workers and police was witnessed on the occasion.
The arrest of the PTI workers continued. PTI supporter women were also arrested. On resistance, the women police dragged the women workers of PTI and put them in the prisoners' van.
In a special message to PTI workers and supporters, Imran Khan gave a call to the nationals to take to the streets for showing their support to the CJP Justice Umar Ata Bandial.
Hundreds of PTI followers riding motorcars were seen rallying from Zero Point to G-8 to attend the public meeting.
After assembling at the PTI central office at G-8, they moved to F-9 Park.
A large number of women and children also participated in the rallies.
However, Capital Police are put on high alert to avert the rallies in Islamabad.
Islamabad police already warned PTI workers against violating section 144 in the federal capital ahead of Imran Khan’s appearance in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) later in the day.
Hundreds of Islamabad Police officials and FC personnel were brought to zero point to handle the rallies.
Although PTI has been allowed to hold rallies in different cities, the Islamabad administration did not allow PTI to hold the rally.
Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been imposed in Islamabad ahead of planned rallies by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in solidarity with Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial.
A notification in this regard has been issued by the Islamabad Capital Police, banning rallies in the federal capital.
