National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has imposed a fine of Rs500 million on the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) for undue delay in approval of interconnection study of private companies, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

NEPRA has issued an order for imposing penalty on IESCO as the concerned companies’ earlier tariff had lapsed for long delay in interconnection studies. A show-cause notice was issued by NEPRA to IESCO but it failed to satisfy the Authority. Following IESCO’s unsatisfactory response, the regulatory body decided to impose the fine and directed the company to comply with the orders and pay the fine within 15 days and submit proof of payment to NEPRA Registrar’s Office.
