Intense heatwave bakes plain areas

An intense heatwave began early in the morning in Lahore and plain areas of Punjab on Tuesday while the weather forecast said it will persist later in the day as well, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Lahore weather office recorded 39 degree Celsius temperature of metropolis early in the morning which is expected to hit 44 degrees in the afternoon.
The weather will remain dry and hot today and tomorrow and health experts advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and stay hydrated.
Mainly very hot and dry weather is expected in most plain areas of the country.
However, light rain-wind/thunderstorm is likely at isolated places in Gilgit Baltistan and Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Gusty / dust raising winds are likely in the Potohar region during the period on Tuesday.
In the past 24 hours, weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country, however, light rain-thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kalam.
