Jahangir Taren has the support of 20 lawmakers of the Punjab Assembly.
According to media reports, both leaders could make an alliance and demand for a chief minister slot in a possible no-confidence motion against the ruling PTI in Punjab.
As per 24News channel, legislators including Abdul Haye Dasti, Tahir Randhawa, Khurram Laghari, Aun Chaudhary and Ajmal Cheema participated in the meeting being held at the residence of Jahangir Tareen. Tareen will address the gathering via video link.
Earlier, the Jehangir Khan Tareen (JKT) group today (Monday) planned to convene a meeting in Lahore to take stock of the current political situation in the country and the opposition’s no-confidence move against the prime minister.
It is learnt that the meeting will be held at the residence of Jehangir Khan Tareen, and he will participate in the meeting via a video link from London.
PTI leader Abdul Aleem Khan is also likely to attend the meeting. The meeting will also consider contacting other estranged PTI members as well ahead of the opposition's no-trust move.
Members of the group will review their strategy for the opposition’s no-confidence move against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
They will also review their policy for restoring contacts with more estranged parliamentarians of the ruling PTI.
They will also make proposals for their political strategy in Punjab and the Centre.
