LHC judge Justice Shahid Waheed elevated to SC

The parliamentary committee on the appointment of judges has approved the elevation of Lahore High Court (LHC), Justice Shahid Waheed, to the Supreme Court, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

The elevation of Shahid Waheed from LHC to the Supreme Court was approved by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on 24 October 2022.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial proposed the names of IHC CJ Athar Minallah; Lahore High Court judge Justice Shahid Waheed; and two Sindh High Court judges Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Shafi Siddiqui for elevation. 

The chief justice also summoned a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) in this regard to consider the four nominees on 24 October 2022.  

Justice Shahid Waheed was the fourth senior-most judge of the LHC.

Now, Justice Shahid Waheed would become the CJP after the retirement of Justice Ayesha Malik.
