Nawaz’s medical report released by British hospital submitted to LHC

Britain’s Royal Brompton Hospital has released Nawaz Sharif's medical report which has been submitted to the Lahore High Court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The report was issued by consultant cardiologist Professor Carlo Di Mario. The report of the British physician was submitted to the Lahore High Court.

According to his medical report, Nawaz Sharif still has “some residual anginal symptoms”.  He needs continuous medical follow-up in Pakistan and London due to diabetes and other diseases.

The patient has been undergoing continuous check-ups due to his bypass surgery and angioplasty in the past. We treated him for the improvement of his first anti-anginal therapy.

Nawaz Sharif was prevented from going to Pakistan due to angina symptoms and the Coronavirus epidemic.

When symptoms of ailment increased in the patient, we decided to redo his angioplasty.

Nawaz Sharif's angioplasty was done in November 2022.

Meanwhile, stents were also inserted in the patient, the medical report concluded.

Professor Carlo Di Mario is an honorary consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals, where he treats private patients.

PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif is returning to Pakistan on October 21 after four years of living in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom.

The party leadership is deliberating the possibility of applying for his bail in the court before his return to the country.

Nawaz Sharif was convicted in the Al-Azizia Mills and Avenfield corruption cases in 2018. The cases are still sub-judice.

The elder Sharif who was serving the jail term at the time when he left the country in November 2019 on medical grounds following his conviction in a corruption case. But he never returned.

Nawaz’s departure took place approximately 20 days after the Islamabad High Court’s order, which granted him temporary relief on medical grounds in the Al Azizia case.

It bears mentioning that in June 2023, both houses of the parliament approved the Elections (Amendment) Act 2023 in June, which empowered the Election Commission of Pakistan to unilaterally fix the date for elections and also limits the lawmakers’ disqualification period to five years with retrospective effect.

The bill could benefit Nawaz and Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP) patron Jahangir Khan Tareen. The two were disqualified for life more than five years ago after a Supreme Court judgement ruled that the disqualification under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution was for life.

Besides this, in June, an accountability court also acquitted Nawaz in a reference pertaining to the alleged illegal allotment of plots in 1986.
