Confirmed coronavirus cases in country soar to 4,204; death toll rises to 61

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 4,204 on Wednesday after new infections were confirmed in the country. These include 2,108 cases in Punjab, 1036 in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 527, Balochistan 210, Gilgit-Baltistan 212, Islamabad Capital Territory 83 and Azad Kashmir 19.
At least 61 people have died of coronavirus since its outbreak in Pakistan, which include 20 in Sindh, Punjab 17, KP 18, Balochistan two, ICT one and three in Gilgit-Baltistan. However, 467 people have been recovered, while 1,339 COVID patients were hospitalized and 25 of them are in critical condition.
The government has also enhanced testing facilities and a total of 42,159 tests have so far been conducted. Isolation facilities have been established in 462 hospitals across Pakistan with a capacity of 7,295 beds. Besides, 17,470 corona affected people have been housed at 330 Quarantine facilities.
Meanwhile Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhawa on Information and public relations Ajmal Khan Wazir has said that under the Prime Minister Ihsas program, 22 lakh families have been identified in the province for relief package and payment of Rs 12000 to those will start from today (Thursday). He said that about 3500 points have been established across the province to pay the relief package and all payments will be made online through the Information Management System to make it transparent.
In the relief package of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rs 6,000 will be given after a week or two. He said that there are 527 corona confirmed cases across the province while tests for 1261 patients came negative and 18 patients have died so far from the coronavirus. 18 out of 19 patients returned home from the quarantine center established at darazinda. Similarly, 217 out of 281 at Gomal Medical College and all 152 patients returned to their homes from Duranpur Quarantine Center.
He was talking to media in the Itlaa Cell Civil Secretariat Peshawar. Ajmal Wazir said that 272 quarantine centres have been set up across the province with a capacity of 17530 patients. Availability of PPEs at every district and tehsil will be made sure. Doctors, Paramedics and the Health Staff are our heroes that the nation will always remember them and the provincial government pays tribute and salutes to all these heroes.
Ajmail Wazir said that CM and all administrative staff are working day and night to protect people from coronavirus. Chief Minister Mahmood Khan himself visited the Quarantina Center in Mardan. The coordination between Pakistan Army and the government is very well for the ending of this outbreak. He said that more cautionary measures are needed in the coming days and we can all defeat Corona by following the government-created SoPs. It is not the time to do politics but to unite as a nation to defeat this pandemic.
