Lt-Gen (r) Tariq recuses himself from heading threat letter probe panel

Lt-Gen (r) Tariq Khan has recused himself from heading a threat letter probe commission, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Friday.

The ex-serviceman was appointed head of the commission formed to dig into the matter of the PM threat letter.

“The government of Pakistan has suggested my name for the investigation of the letter gate. I apologise to the head of the Lettergate Commission of Inquiry,” he tweeted.

Earlier in the day, the PTI government announced a commission under Lt-Gen (r) Tariq Khan to dig into the ‘foreign conspiracy’ against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry made the announcement after the federal cabinet meeting  He said the government also decided to present the records of a diplomatic communique it received from the Pakistan ambassador and containing a threat against Imran Khan’s government before the National Assembly.
