The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Peshawar region and security forces on Saturday killed four terrorists — allegedly belonging to a banned organization — in a mountainous area near Sangu Sarband, Khyber district.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has claimed to kill four terrorists in a search and clearance operation in the area.
According to a CTD press release, the terrorists were killed in retaliatory fire by a team conducting an intelligence-based joint operation upon receiving a tip-off that the terrorists were roaming in the area.
The teams attacked the terrorists with the intention to arrest them.
The terrorists started firing indiscriminately on the border of Sangu Sarband, District Khyber while trying to run away on seeing the forces.
The firing between the terrorists and the operation teams continued for a long time. When the firing stopped, four terrorists were killed during the search and clearance operation in the area. The slain terrorists were wanted by CTD in several cases.
Four Kalashnikovs and three hand grenades were recovered from the possession of the dead terrorists. It is believed that three to four terrorists escaped in the dark of night.
