In an unexpected way, World Cup T20 semifinal, scheduled to be held between Pakistan and New Zealand, came under discussion in apex court while hearing of the plea filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law amendments, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

During the hearing, advocate Makhdom Ali Khan – lawyer of government – said that Pakistan cricket team qualified for semifinal through a miracle. Upon which Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial gave a pleasant smile and asked the lawyer about the timing of the match. Should we install a screen outside the Supreme Court so that you may watch a match, CJP asked the lawyer. The CJP also said that qualifying for semifinal is indeed a miracle. While talking to lawyers, the CJP said that he will free them early. He also said that we could extend the hearing till day after tomorrow but advocate Khawaja Haris is here all the way from Lahore. Upon which Justice Ijaz-ul-Ehsan said that advocate Khawaja Haris is also a big fan of cricket.

Meanwhile, while addressing the lawyer of PTI, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said on a lighter note “If u don’t mind, you can give arguments regarding the case during the match meanwhile we will watch the match”.

The case has been adjourned till tomorrow.
