Superintendent Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi on Wednesday expressed his inability to arrange telephonic talk of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan with his sons, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In his reply submitted to the Court of Official Secrets Act in Islamabad in the contempt case against him, the superintendent said that he had arranged Imran’s conversation with his sons on October 18. “However, one cannot talk to people on WhatsApp living overseas for an indefinite time period,” he said, and added, “In this connection, the court can give instructions to the Punjab home department to amend the rules.”
The superintendent further said that in a letter the IG Jail had written regarding suspects imprisoned under the Official Secrets Act, he had made it clear that such prisoners did not have the facility of PCO.
He went on to say that he could not even think of defying the court order. “Therefore, I pray to the court to dispose of the contempt of court petition against me,” he concluded.
PTI’s lawyer Shiraz Ahmad Ranjha appeared in the court.
However, the case’s hearing had to be adjourned until Monday due to the absence of Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain.
