Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) Project Manager Shabbar Mirza was killed while another was injured in an explosion near a vehicle in a coal minefield explosion in the suburbs of Quetta on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to sources in the police, the project manager was heading to the minefield when the incident occurred.
On March 4, 2023, six miners had lost their lives and five others were injured after poisonous gases accumulated inside a coal mine in the Shahrag area of Harnai district, Balochistan.
Due to the lack of proper ventilation, 11 miners fell unconscious and became trapped.
Despite the efforts of rescue workers and fellow coal miners, five miners died before rescue teams could reach the area.
The dead bodies were transported to the Basic Health Unit Shahrag along with the injured miners.
Dr Muhammad Akbar, in charge of the health unit, confirmed the deaths and injuries. “We received a total of six dead bodies and five injured,” he said.
