LHC to take up visually impaired persons' plea tomorrow

The Lahore High Court will conduct an urgent hearing tomorrow (Tuesday) regarding the demands of blind individuals who have been protesting for weeks on Mall Road.

 The petition, filed by a citizen Azam Ali Butt, will be heard tomorrow by Justice Rasaal Hasan Syed.

The case, brought as an urgent matter, names the Punjab government as a respondent through the Chief Secretary.

For the past two weeks, several blind people have been staging demonstrations on Mall Road, calling for their demands to be met.

According to the petitioner, these individuals have repeatedly been misled under the guise of negotiations, with promises left unfulfilled.

Despite clear court orders mandating employment for blind individuals based on their quota, these jobs have yet to be provided.

The petitioner also highlighted the grave desperation of some protestors, with certain individuals attempting suicide by setting themselves on fire due to the dire circumstances they faced.

The request emphasized the urgent need for security arrangements to ensure the safety of these protesters, who are already in a vulnerable position.

The petition called on the court to issue orders for the acceptance of the legitimate demands of the blind protesters.

These demands include the enforcement of job quotas and recognition of their legal rights.
