The Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment Authority (PECTA) has decided not to hold board exams for grades 5 and 8 this academic year. Instead, only assessments will be conducted, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by PECTA CEO Dr. Shahenshah Faisal Azeem. The move is aimed at reducing exam stress on students and shifting focus to concept-based learning.
The authority confirmed that this step aligns with modern educational practices, which emphasise continuous assessment over traditional high-stakes examinations.
