In a strong show of solidarity, the Quetta Bar Association observed a complete boycott of court proceedings across Quetta on Tuesday, protesting the recent assassination attempt on Karachi Bar Association President Advocate Aamir Nawaz Warraich, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
In an official statement, the Quetta Bar Association condemned the attack in the strongest terms, stating that the boycott was held to denounce the targeted violence against Advocate Aamir Nawaz. The Association declared that such heinous acts against members of the legal fraternity are utterly intolerable.
"The routine nature of deadly attacks on lawyers has become alarming," the association said. "The government and law enforcement agencies have completely failed to maintain peace and order. The state appears to be operating under the law of the jungle."
The association further stated that frequent attacks on lawyers have shattered the writ of the government. They demanded that the Sindh Government and IG Sindh Police take swift action and immediately arrest the culprits behind the attack on Advocate Aamir Nawaz.
