In another shock to the already overburdened power consumers, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has notified a hike of Rs 2.84 per unit in the price of electricity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to a notification issued on Wednesday, the price has been hiked due to March's fuel adjustment and new rates will be changed from the consumers in the bill of May 2024.
The decision will apply to all consumers of the power distribution companies; however, lifeline and Karachi-Electric (K-Electric) consumers have been exempted from the raise.
Similarly, Nepra’s decision will also not apply to the electric vehicles’ charging stations.
The increase will have an additional burden of about Rs 26 billion including sales tax on electricity consumers.
