Lawmakers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday booed their fellow lawmakers after a session of the provincial assembly in Lahore.
Some PML-N MPAs, who criticised party patron Nawaz Sharif for his anti-army remarks and then held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, came under attack on Friday.
After the assembly session, PML-N lawmakers threw lotas at their fellow lawmakers allegedly for switching their loyalties. PML-N MPA Mian Rauf placed a lota on the head of MPA Mian Jaleel Ahmed Sharaqpuri, who said he would not support Nawaz Sharif’s views against the Pakistan Army. The two MPAs also exchanged words on this occasion.
Also, PML-N lawmakers did not allow dissenting MPA Maulana Ghiasuddin to sit on the opposition benches. In reaction, Ghiasuddin left the House.
On this occasion, PML-N lawmakers called upon the dissenting party men to resign as provincial lawmakers. They forced PML-N MPA Faisal Niazi to tender his resignation from the Punjab Assembly and contest the election afresh from the platform of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). On this, Faisal tendered his resignation.
Later, Mian Jaleel reportedly submitted an application to the Punjab Assembly speaker against the fellow PML-N lawmaker who placed a lota on his head. He said in the application that MPA Mian Abdul Rauf’s act was an individual act, not party’s policy.
However, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi denied that Mian Jaleel submitted him any application against his fellow lawmaker. He said the incident took place outside the assembly therefore he could not do anything about it.
