MQM-Pakistan leader Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori has been appointed as the new governor of Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
President Arif Alvi approved the appointment of Kamran Tessori as governor of Sindh. The President granted the approval under Article 101-1 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
The Sindh governor’s slot was empty ever since PTI’s Imran Ismail resigned from the post.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) had sacked Kamran Tessori from the Rabita Committee and suspended him for six months over the violation of party discipline in 2018. On February 5, 2018, he was expelled from the party by the MQM-P Rabita Committee by a vote of two-thirds majority.
However, Kamran Tessori’s return to MQM-P as its deputy convener last month had again fuelled differences among party members.
As per Rabita Committee sources, candidates for the post of party's deputy convener must have a two-third majority.
Tessori was appointed to the position by the party’s Rabita Committee, following which members of the party have shared their reservations against him.
Rabita Committee member Kishwar Zahra had recorded her reservations in writing stating that the decision had been imposed on everyone in the party on the behest of a few.
Senior MQM-P leader Dr Shahab Imam had decided to resign from his membership following the Rabita Committee’s decision to bring back Tessori, claiming other members of MQM-P had also expressed their dissatisfaction over party’s decisions.
