Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Special Assistant to PM Attaullah Tarar, who was in the middle of a storm over the arrest of four youth for allegedly laughing at him and his family at a restaurant in Islamabad, Friday said that he did not lodge any complaint to police over the issue when the incident happened.
Clarifying the circumstances, Tarar said he went to a restaurant at Margalla Hills with his family when some young people started targeting him and his family but he tolerated them.
However, Tarar said someone present on the scene reported the incident to a nearby police picket who took action and rounded up the youth.
However, he said that these people later claimed that they only laughed at him and his family in the police station despite the fact that they verbally harassed him and his family when they were heading to their car.
He said he told the police that laughing was no crime and he did not press the charges and let the police free the youth.
However, he deplored the attitude of the people who could not tell right from wrong.
Later the police released the youth after Tarar pardoned them.
Earlier, soon after the incident in a Tweet, Tarar said that PTI's false and malicious campaign against me is deplorable. Harassment will not be tolerated.
“I was with my family when those 4 boys resorted to hooliganism. PTIs false and malicious campaign against me is deplorable. Harassment will not be tolerated. Fawad, you should be thankful that I did not press charges. You guys did this in Madina Munawwara, yeh toh phir Monal tha.”
