10 detained in Jhelum in murder case of UK girl Sara Sharif

Jhelum Police have detained 10 people and shifted them to an unknown location in the case of the alleged murder of a ten-year-old girl in Britain, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to police sources, three vehicles used by Urfan Sharif's family have also been seized.

The police have decided that if Urfan, Beenish and Faisal did not surrender, then they would interrogate their family’s women. 

Sara Sharif was found dead in the southern UK town of Woking on August 10 and a post-mortem test revealed she had sustained "multiple and extensive injuries" over a sustained period, British police said.

Sara's father, Urfan Sharif, and stepmother, Beenish Batool, are believed to have travelled to Pakistan the day before her body was found at the family home in Woking on August 10.

Yesterday, the stepmother of Sara released a message in which she said that the family was willing to cooperate with the British authorities and "fight our case in court".

Beenish Batool released a video message sitting by the side of her husband and father of Sara, Urfan Sharif, shared with Sky News. She was reading a message from a notebook while Urfan watched her speaking sitting silently.

In her first message after going into hiding in Pakistan, Beenish claimed that Sara’s death was an “incident”, and alleged that police were harassing the couple’s extended family, illegally detaining them and raiding their homes.

British police launched a murder investigation after officers discovered the body of Sara Sharif in her father’s home in Surrey, about 25 miles from central London.

Detective superintendent Mark Chapman said on Friday that Malik Urfan Sharif, Sara’s father, left the UK with his partner, Beinash Batool, and his brother, Faisal Malik, the day before the child’s body was found.

Officers are working with Interpol, the National Crime Agency and the Foreign Office, and liaising with Pakistani authorities. There is no extradition treaty in place between the UK and Pakistan.

The raids are also being conducted in the Pakistani cities of Mirpur and Jhelum.
