With 91 more people dying of the coronavirus during the past 24 hours (Tuesday), the death toll in Pakistan climbed to 4,395 as the country continues struggling to contain the pandemic.

The death and infection rates in Pakistan have been vacillating in the recent days with 118 people reportedly dead on Monday and 49 on Sunday. Similarly, there has been a reduction in the new cases with 2,846 reported on Monday and 3,557 Sunday since June 20.

But the reported cases again increased Tuesday as the virus was found in another 4,133 people across the country, raising the overall figures to 213,470, shows the data released by National Command and Operation Centre on Wednesday morning.

A total of 5,050 people are currently hospitalised in different parts of the country. Out of these patients, 2,741 are in a critical condition with 491 placed on ventilator.

Meanwhile, 22,418 more tests were conducted during the same period after which the overall number has now reached 1,305,510.

As far as the deaths are concerned, the pandemic is proving to be deadliest in Punjab where 1,762 people have died so far. Sindh is second with 1,377 deaths followed by 951 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The details for the other regions are: Islamabad 128, Balochistan 121, Azad Kashmir 30 and Gilgit Baltistan 26.

After the addition of latest infection figures confirmed officially, Sindh has so far recorded 84,640 cases. Punjab is second with 76,262 cases and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa third after confirming the presence of 26,598 patients.

The region-wise details of the coronavirus cases for others are: 12,972 in Islamabad, 10,476 in Balochistan, 1,489 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,093 in Azad Kashmir.
