The Islamabad High Court has rejected Samina Naz’s plea to reacquire Pakistani citizenship after marrying an Indian citizen as the court ordered that she could not seek Pakistani citizenship until she surrendered her Indian citizenship, reporting 24NewsHD TV channel.
IHC Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb announced the six-page verdict on the Samina Naz application.
The court retained the decision of Immigration officials that directed Samina Naz to relinquish her Indian citizenship first if she wanted to become a Pakistani national again.
“Samina Naz married an Indian citizen in 2004 and also surrendered her Pakistani citizenship. In 2018, Samina Naz returned to Pakistan with her children on a visit visa,” the court’s verdict maintained.
Samina Naz reapplied for citizenship after children got Foreign Student Status in Pakistan.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan ordered that Samina Naz and her children can gain Pakistani citizenship as new citizens only.
