The number of illegal Afghan nationals who have left Pakistan has now reached 921,063 as the repatriation operation continues steadily, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
According to immigration sources, 7,762 more illegal Afghan residents were sent back just yesterday as part of the ongoing deportation campaign targeting illegal foreigners and Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders.
The Government of Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safe and respectful return of all illegal foreign residents. Officials assured that no mistreatment will be tolerated during the process of repatriation.
The authorities have also arranged quality food and healthcare facilities for those being sent back to their home country.
The mass deportation operation officially began on April 1. Immigration sources confirmed that just yesterday, 4,515 foreigners were expelled through the Torkham border.
Of these, 3,062 individuals voluntarily arrived at the Landi Kotal transit camp, while 1,322 illegal foreigners arrested from various cities of Punjab were directly transported to the border.
Furthermore, 48 foreigners detained in Azad Kashmir were also deported via the Torkham crossing, along with 83 others who were held at the Jumma Khan Colony transit camp in Peshawar.
Among those who reported to transit camps, 1,232 individuals were found to be residing illegally in Pakistan, while 1,830 were holders of Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC).
Immigration officials revealed that since April 1, a total of 20,124 illegal foreigners have been deported.
Additionally, between September 17, 2023, and March 31, 2025, a total of 70,494 Afghan families have voluntarily returned to Afghanistan. These families comprised 469,159 individuals in total.
