ASI awarded 7-year jail, Rs200,000 fine for accepting bribe

A court in Lahore has awarded a seven-year jail and slapped Rs200,000 fine on a police officer for receiving bribe, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Senior Special Judge Anti-Corruption Sohaib Ahmad announced the sentence against Sargodha Police’s ASI Riaz Ahmad for accepting Rs50,000 bribe.

The Anti-Corruption Department had arrested the accused red-handed while receiving the money.

The convict will have to undergo another three months in jail if he does not pay the fine of Rs200,000.

The ASI had accepted the bribe to favour the applicant during an investigation.
