Shami played a pivotal role in India's cricket journey, notably as a crucial member of the team that secured the runner-up position in both the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup. His exceptional performance in the ODI World Cup held in India further solidified his standing, emerging as the tournament's leading wicket-taker with an impressive tally of 24 wickets in just seven matches.
