JUI chief vows to raise Waziristan tribesmen’s voice

A delegation of South Waziristan tribesmen raised the matter of anti-terror operation compensation with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at a meeting on Monday.

Javed Mehsud said that of  80,000 families, 48,000 have been compensated so far.

He told the JUI chief they were denied permission to hold a jirga at the National Press Club in Islamabad.

The Jul chief reiterated his resolve to continue raising a voice for tribesmen’s rights at all the forums.

“A written promise was made to tribesperson. The authorities promised to spend Rs 100 billion every year but

8 years passed and even Rs100b has not been spent so far,” Fazl rued

He raised the demand for compensating the tribesperson at the earliest.

“I will stand by the tribal people in every difficult hour and convene a tribal jirga as soon as possible,” he added.
