LHC orders Rs10,000 fine on wasting water in houses

Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday ordered to impose Rs10,000 penalty on persons who found wasting water inside their homes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During hearing of the case, Justice Shahid Kareem of the Lahore High Court directed Lahore Development Authority (LDA) not to approve maps of more than 1 kanals houses.
He further ordered that LDA should ensure full implementation on its rules and regulations.
LDA also submitted a notification in this regard in the Lahore High Court. During the proceedings LHC directed LDA not to approve maps of those houses who were being constructed without recycling system.
The Judge said that inn case the map is approved then an official must visit the house to ensure court orders.
Justice Shahid Kareem said that we have to take effective measures to stop wasting of water. Justice Shahid Kareem said that huge quantity of water is being wasted at most of the service stations which is a crime.
He said that government should adopt a comprehensive policy to protect and storage of water.
Justice Shahid Kareem went on to saying that our religion also teach us to safe water.
Justice Shahid lauded efforts of Department of Environment for protection and safety of water.
He ordered that Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA), Multan Development Authority (MDA) and other authorities should finalize rules for safety of water.
Member Environment Commission, LDA, PHA and representative from traffic department were also present during the hearing.
Later the case was adjourned till April 18, 2025.
