On the directives of the federal government, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a probe into alleged corruption and illegal recruitments to the election commission.

The formal registration of an inquiry has been made in the Karachi FIA. The election commission has always been blamed for siding with the ‘powerful’.

The commission came under fire over ‘siding’ with the government in GB election in November, making the ruling PTI win the polls.

Before the closing of polling at 5pm, the opposition parties, PPP and PML-N, cried foul. The PPP won the GB election of 2009 when it party was in power (2008-2013) and the PML-N clinched victory in 2015 during its rule (2013-2018).
