The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a fake journalist who had succeeded twice in getting the US visa by posing as a private TV channel reporter, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

A team headed by SHO Inspector Waqar Awan of FIA’s Anti-Human Smuggling Circle arrested the fake journalist from Karachi.

The accused, Ijaz Cheema, had visited the United Nations on a US visa in 2019 and covered the UN session as a senior reporter.

The accused, a resident of Sialkot, had again succeeded in obtaining the US visa in 2020.

The FIA team took action on the complaint of American Consulate in Karachi.

US mission’s own investigation revealed that the accused was not a journalist and the said TV channel said it had nothing to do with the letters he presented to the American consulate.
