Pakistan Airlines’ Pilots Association (PALPA) on Tuesday rejected 17 percent increase in their salaries by the PIA management and demanded to enhance their pays as per pilots of private airlines, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a letter addressed to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) management, PALPA said that their 17 percent basic salary was increased after a period of nine years but allowances were not revised which also included flying allowance.

PALPA said that in 2016 their salaries were increased while PIA pilots were being paid 50 percent less salaries as compared with the salaries of international airlines pilots.

In the letter PALPA said that justice is not being provided to PIA pilots which is essential for maintenance of safety and efficiency rules for flight operations.

They urged PIA administration to take effective and practical measures to solve the issue of salaries enhancement.

They appealed the concerned authorities that their salaries should be approved as per level of pilots of private airlines.

They said that this issue should be resolved on priority basic otherwise it will put a negative impact on restoration of international flight operations.
