A petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court praying it to increase the sentence of main culprit Zahir Jaffer in the Noor Mukadam murder case, reporter 24NewsHD TV channel.
The appeal was filed by Noor’s father Shaukat Mukadam who pleaded that there was digital evidence against murderer Zahir Jaffer and contended that the trial court handed him a short sentence.
He also filed two other petitions in the court seeking an increase in the sentences of two other culprits: Muhammad Jan and Muhammad Iftikhar.
Lawyer Shah Khawar submitted these three petitions on behalf of Shaukat Mukadam.
The petitions say since there is digital evidence available against the culprits, their sentences should be increased.
A sessions court in Islamabad on Feb 24 handed death sentence to Zahir Jaffer for the murder of Noor Mukadam. The court also found him guilty of rape and awarded him 25 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs200,000.
Zahir's household staff Iftikhar and Jan — both co-accused in the case — were awarded 10 years imprisonment each, while all others, including Zahir's father Zakir Jaffer, his mother Asmat Adamjee and TherapyWorks employees, were acquitted.
