Mayo Hospital, one of the biggest health facilities in South Asia is getting less annual budget as compared to other hospitals in the city creating problems for the hapless patients, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the sources, the provincial government is providing Rs 3316,000 per bed annual budget to Mayo Hospital while Services Hospital is getting 375000 and Nawaz Sharif Hospital is receiving annual budget Rs 5013000 per bed. Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital has the highest budget with Rs 8,524,000 per bed. They claimed that the specialized Health department is responsible for not providing the budget according to the needs of the hospital. The hospital facilitates at least eight thousand to 10 thousand patients daily.

Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) is being given a budget of Rs 7729,000 while the annual budget of Nawaz Sharif Hospital Yaki Gate and Jinnah is getting 5,000,000 lakh each per bed annual budget.

Likewise, Genera Hospital is receiving Rs 4,380,000 and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital takes Rs 4,168,000 per bed annual budget. Lady Willingdon is yet another example of discrimination that is getting 3,889,000 per bed.

Mayo Hospital, Services, General, and Jinnah Hospitals receive an average of 7000 thousand patients per day in emergency and outdoors. The Mayo Hospital admits a large number of patients but has a low budget as compared to those hospitals that house a few dozen patients but an excessive budget. The lack of sufficient resources is hampering the administration to provide adequate health facilities to the visitors.
