Punjab gives exemption of sales tax on imports from UAE

The Punjab government Thursday gave formal approval to give exemption from provincial sales tax to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The UAE Embassy in Pakistan requested the Punjab government to give them an exemption on goods imported from UAE.
The UAE embassy in Islamabad has forwarded a formal letter to the Punjab Chief Minister for exemption from the sales tax on its imports.
After the letter, on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the Punjab Revenue Authority sent a summary of the exemption to the Finance Department for giving sales tax exemption to UAE.
According to the sources, while relaxing the laws of Punjab sales tax, the Chief Minister of Punjab has given exemption of duty and sales tax imposed on the import of various goods from abroad to the Embassy of UAE on the basis of foreign relations.
