Former Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been arrested on financial corruption charges and is being questioned by the police.
Scotland Police in a statement issued on Sunday said: "A 52-year-old woman was arrested today, Sunday 11 June 2023, as a suspect in an ongoing investigation into the National Party's funding and finances of the Scottish National Party.”
Scotland Police further said in the statement: "The woman is in custody and is being questioned by Police Scotland detectives."
The police said they were unable to comment on the case because a probe into the matter is going on.
Arrested former first minister's husband and former SNP executive Peter Murrell was also arrested and released earlier this month in Edinburgh.
Sturgeon abruptly announced her resignation as Prime Minister in February after nine years as a leader in Scotland's independence movement from Britain.
