Govt files appeal in SC to withdraw pleas about Riba-based system

The federal government has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court on Saturday seeking withdrawal of petitions regarding interest-based system in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Advocate Salman Akram Raja filed the appeal in the apex court as the Federal Shariat Court had already issued the order to abolish the interest-based system in the country.
Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had also declared the other day that Riba-free banking system will be set up in the country.
Ishaq Dar had announced all appeals against an April decision of the FSC in which it gave the government five years to eliminate Riba (interest-based) banking from the country will be withdrawn.
