Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz said on Monday that those trying to silence her would themselves fall silent.
In an interview to a news channel, Maryam said she had no differences with her uncle and former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif, but he has his own way of dealing with different matters. She said that Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif had always been on one page. She said the PML-N was not supported by anyone. She said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif knew really well what to say and when to say.
Maryam said the powers that be put Shehbaz in jail when they realised that he would not serve their purpose. She said that Nawaz Sharif’s speech didn’t mean treason. She said there was no corruption allegation against her or her father Nawaz Sharif. She said that a sedition case was registered against Nawaz Sharif and his supporters after approval from Prime Minister’s House.
The PML-N leader said that calling Nawaz Sharif a traitor means calling most of Pakistani traitors. She said that Nawaz Sharif sacrificed his personal interest for the sake of national interest. She said that Nawaz Sharif’s narrative is in fact the narrative of the Quaid-i-Azam. She said that those not supporting Nawaz Sharif’s narrative might have their own compulsions. She said that institutions should stay away from politics in order to keep their integrity intact.
