Authorities revealed that the infected individual arrived at Islamabad Airport from a Gulf country on September 7 and the negligent border healthcare officials let the patient leave the airport.

The patient stayed at a hotel in Peshawar and consulted a skin specialist followed by tests at Khyber Medical University, which confirmed the monkeypox infection.
