Punjab CM Maryam orders police to control illegal weapons’ movement

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered police officers to control the supply and transportation of illegal weapons in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Following the orders of Chief Minister, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab increased the number of check posts across the province including Lahore and started the process of checking at 132 places.
According to police authorities the process of checking at 69 internal and external points of motorways across the province, 14 provincial check posts and 49 river check posts has been tightened.
They said all the cops deployed on the police pickets will be fitted with body cameras.
Initially, 115 body cams have been provided at check posts and for the rest of the check posts, additional video and voice recording cameras will be purchased, police authorities said.
The transportation of weapons on the police pickets will be strictly monitored.
The Special Branch will prepare and provide special reports regarding the performance of the police authorities.
Additional personnel have also been deployed on all the internal and external routes of the motorways on special orders of the Chief Minister of Punjab to prevent illegal weapons.
