The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to bring former senior minister Abdul Aleem Khan back into the Punjab cabinet on Monday.
Aleem Khan will be sworn in as provincial minister at Governor’s House in Lahore at 5:00 pm on April 13. Issues relating to the ministry, which he will be assigned, were discussed during Aleem Khan’s meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar earlier on April 12. However, the portfolio for Aleem Khan would be decided later. He had resigned as Punjab minister for local government around six months ago as he was being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a case.
Earlier in the day, Aleem Khan called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at Chief Minister’s office and discussed with him matters of mutual interest, current political scenario and government’s initiatives to cope with the coronavirus pandemic. He said it was time to render selfless services to people and all parties must unite to deal with the coronavirus pandemic in an effective manner.
Speaking on the occasion, Buzdar said that opposition parties had paid only lip service instead of doing anything solid after the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The opposition should realise that public service cannot be done through mere statements, he said.
