Declaring the appointments of all members of the Pakistan Medical Council (PMC) illegal, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday ordered the removal of all these officials with immediate effect, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Muhsin Akhtar Kiani of the IHC pronounced the reserved verdict on the petitions filed against the appointment of PMC members.
Those affected by the IHC order include Dr. Arshad Taqqi, PMC President, and Muhammad Ali Raza, the Vice President.
The court also ordered the Council to continue functioning until new appointments were made.
Similarly, the IHC in its decision said that those retired employees of the PMC who had received pensions were not bound to return the amounts they had received. “Similarly, those who have not received as yet are no more entitled to it,” reads the verdict.
