Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) failed to pay their employees for November as the company reportedly suffered a severe financial crisis, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
It was stated that around 10,000 PIA employees across the country have not been paid their salaries for November. The amount due was reported to be Rs3 billion.
Among the employees to whom the company owes are the pilots, the crew, air-hostesses, technical staff, ground staff, and the wageworkers.
PIA People’s Unity General Secretary Rana Kashif said that salaries are being deliberately withheld by the higher officials.
They are holding salaries despite their claims that the company making profits. The fuel costs are not being paid and the salaries are being withheld. The circumstances are being made favourable for the privatisation of PIA.
