Farmers in Manchinabad beat fertilizer dealers and tehsil administration over non- availability of urea fertilizer, 24NewsHD TV reported.
The local administration has registered a case against 22 persons for interfering in the affairs of the government.
According to the first information report (FIR) a local fertilizer dealer was in-charge of distributing fertilizer along with the Agriculture Department and other staff. During the distribution of fertilizer, the mob attacked fertilizer dealer Saleem Tahir.
According to farmers, the fertilizer was available in large warehouses and dealers were selling it in black instead on government rates creating an artificial crisis. Farmers said they were angry over ‘unfair distribution’ of urea fertilizer.
“Our wheat crops are being destroyed due to non-availability of the urea fertilizer, we will set our crops on fire”, farmers added. The crisis of urea fertilizer is intensifying in Bahawalnagar as farmers are forced to move from one office to another to get fertilizer.
