Instant messaging app WhatsApp is indeed one of the most widely used apps worldwide because of the latest features and updates it keeps bringing for users. And now the app is back again with yet another cool feature in its list.

The app will be now allowing users to listen to WhatsApp voice notes in the background. This means that people can listen to voice messages even after switching to a different chat window.

Meta-owned WhatsApp is working on a couple of new features that is expected to be launched this year. Now, a new report has suggested that the app is testing a new feature that will allow users to listen to voice notes even after closing the chat window.

The app currently lets users listen to the voice notes in the chat window. However, once the user closes the chat window, the voice note gets closed too. However, the upcoming feature might let users play voice note in background.

According to WABetainfo, WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new global voice note player on iOS beta that will let users listen to a voice message while on a different chat. The report revealed that the voice note that users are listening to will not be dismissed when they swipe back or switch to a different chat.

This feature has been released to some iOS beta testers, including WhatsApp Business beta.

The screenshot shared by the WhatsApp feature tracker shows that when users start to listen a voice note and they can still continue to listen to the voice note even if they open another chat window. The screenshot shows a new pause button at the top of the screen. With this new option, users can stop, play, dismiss the voice note, and a progress bar. The feature is currently under development and there is no official news about the feature by WhatsApp as well.

Meanwhile, a recent report has revealed that WhatsApp for iOS is planning to remove “Broadcast Lists” and “New Group” from the chats list in a future update. There will be a new entry point for “Broadcast” within the contacts list, available when users tap the same button “Start New Chat” at the top right.
