The Lahore High Court has rejected the bail application of Amna Urooj, the accused in the Khalilur Rehman Qamar honey trap case, with the court emphasizing the growing trend of law misuse in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Miss Alia Neelum and Justice Asjad Javed Gharal heard the case.
During the hearing, Chief Justice Alia Neelum highlighted that a woman who operates as an independent property dealer in a large city like Lahore is typically not easily intimidated and questioned the defense's narrative of harassment.
The defense argued that the accused was engaged in the property business and was unjustly implicated.
However, the prosecution countered that Amina Urooj played a significant role in the alleged kidnapping of Khalilur Rehman Qamar, asserting that she was involved until he was taken to Nankana Sahib.
The court noted that the bail application had been pending since September and ordered the trial to be completed within one month.
Despite the defense's claims of her involvement in showbiz and promotional video-making, the court rejected her bail plea, affirming the seriousness of the charges and the ongoing legal process.
Amna Urooj had previously approached the High Court for bail on September 10, 2024, after her application was dismissed by the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore.
