A local in Islamabad on Saturday reserved its decision on the application for registration of a case against US citizen Cynthia Richie, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The verdict will be pronounced on June 15. Additional Sessions Judge Jahangir Awan reserved the verdict after hearing the arguments of the parties.

The petitioner's lawyers took the position that the state has the power to take action against the woman who made obnoxious tweets. "If there is any crime, it is the responsibility of the state to take action," the applicant stated in his application.

Earlier, PPP senior leader and Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Interior Rehman Malik had served a defamation notice to US blogger Cynthia D Ritchie over false, frivolous and baseless allegation of rape against him. Senator Rehman Malik strongly rejected all allegations against him and termed those a pack of lies to damage his reputation.

The PPP leader sent a defamation notice to US blogger through his lawyer Ch Abdur Rehman Bajwa. He said that he was fighting for the honour and respect of his leader Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto who sacrificed her life for the nation and he can face such kinds of hundreds of false and fabricated allegations in this fight.
