Ghazal maestro Mehdi Hassan remembered on 9th death anniversary

Shahenshah-e-Ghazal (the king of ghazal) and playback singer Mehdi Hassan was remembered on ninth death anniversary on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Mehdi Hassan was listed among the greatest singers of his time and awarded some of the most prestigious titles in the Pakistani music industry, including the Nigar Award for Best Performer multiple times.

He was also a recipient of the Pride of Performance Award, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-i-Imtiaz.
Mehdi Hasan was born on 18 July 1927. Born to a musical family and breathed his last on 13 June 2012.
He influenced generations of singers from diverse genres, from Jagjit Singh to Sonu Nigam. Mehdi Hassan was one of the greatest and most influential figures in the history of ghazal singing.
Mehdi Hasan is credited with bringing ghazal singing to a worldwide audience and is known for his melodic patterns and maintaining the integrity of the ragas in an innovative way.
As per estimates he sang and created soundtracks for almost 300 movies.
