High-rise puts important buildings at high-risk: Punjab Assembly speaker

October 13, 2020 02:40 AM

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has come down hard on the former government for putting the assembly at high risk.

The previous ruling party, PML-N, didn’t pay heed to the high-risk activities in front of the most important structure, he told the participants of a meeting called to address security concerns on Monday.

During a visit to the under-construction PA building a few days ago, the speaker got to knowing about work on a high-rise in front of the Punjab Assembly. The PML-N should have addressed such a serious concern, he said, adding the law will take its course as no one is above it.

Law Minister Raja Basharat,  LG Secretary Tahir Khurshid,  LDA DG Ahmad Aziz Tarar, Lahore DC Mudassar Riaz Malik, Additional Commissioner Aman Anwar, Chief Corporation Officer Hafiz Shaukat Ali, Planning Director Ayesha Mazhar, Secretary Coordination Punjab Assembly Rai Mumtaz Hussain Bar and DG Parliamentary Affairs Inayatullah Lak attended the meeting.

On the directives of the speaker, the LG secretary LDA DG, DC Lahore and other participants visited under-construction building.
