Carlos Alcaraz has clinched his first Monte Carlo Masters title, defeating Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti 3–6, 6–1, 6–0 in a commanding comeback on Sunday.
The victory marks Alcaraz’s 18th career title and his first Masters 1000 trophy in over a year, ending a two-month title drought since his win in Rotterdam.
The 21-year-old Spaniard, who has faced recent challenges both on and off the court, expressed pride in overcoming these difficulties. “It has been a really difficult month for me outside, on the court, so coming here and seeing the hard work pay off, I’m just really, really happy,” Alcaraz shared.
Alcaraz's triumph drew praise from tennis legends Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Nadal, his Paris Olympics doubles partner, congratulated him on social media, while Djokovic referred to him as a "titan" in a comment on Alcaraz's victory post.
With this win, Alcaraz becomes the youngest Monte Carlo champion since Nadal in 2008 and ascends to world No. 2 in the ATP rankings.
