Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali has ordered disciplinary action against “miscreants” responsible for spreading chaos in the Gomal University, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The KP governor issued the order establishing telephonic contact with Vice-Chancellor Dr Iftikhar Ahmad
Quoting sources, the 24News TV channel reported that the governor contacted the VC after receiving reports of attacks on VC’s residence and office and ordered him to take tough action against them.
Earlier, the governor also phoned RPO Salim Marwat, directing to take necessary steps for ensuring protection of Gomal University VC, teachers, students and properties.
Supporters of former PTI minister Ali Amin Gandapur had allegedly stormed the house of Gomal University Vice-Chancellor Dr Iftikhar Ahmad and broken down its main gate. The attackers first barged into the house of VC Dr Iftikhar and broke down its main gate, then they ransacked his house. After that, the enraged group went to the VC office and subjected the staff to torture over there.
It is pertinent to mention here that Gandapur hurled threats of serious consequences at VC Iftikhar if he did not leave charge.
The police had already registered a case about hurling threats by the former minister.
VC Iftikhar had also informed about these threats to then Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor. At that time, the vice-chancellor also had submitted an application to the FIA requesting it to register a case against Gandapur which was still in the process of inquiry.
